Age Difference Formula:

Age Difference = |First Person Age - Second Person Age|

The absolute function “||” indicates that age difference is always a whole number.

Example:

If person A is 76 years old and person B is 23 years old, then their age difference will be:

Age Difference = |First Person Age - Second Person Age|

Age Difference = |76 - 23|

Age Gap In Relationships:

Studies have revealed that an age gap of more than 10 years among partners is socially disapproved. But it does not mean that every woman or man thinks like that. Everyone has set their preferences and even lives happily with the 15-year age gap.

Do Age Gaps In Relationships Matter?

  • It depends upon the thinking of couples. Where less age-gap couples have weak bonds, those with greater age-gap are likely to survive happily. About three-fourths of the total couples where an old man is married to a younger woman are satisfied. Such people do not even get jealous of the age factor or anything like youngsters of the same age.
  • In relationships, social disapproval of large age-gap couples by family members, friends, or the community also affects commitment. This increases the chances of break-ups. This is why before you tie with your partner, it is important to know what is the age difference between both of you.
  • Also, the life stages matter a lot and play a significant role in couples. For example, a fifteen-year gap between an 18-year-old and a 24-year-old may bring up different challenges and issues than a fifteen-year gap where one partner is 34 and the other is 26.

The Rule of Seven - Find Age Gap In Relationships

This rule states that:

“Never date anyone under half their age plus seven years”

For example: If you are 25 years old and your dating partner is 27 years old, then according to the rule:

25/2+7 = 12.5+7 = 19.5 years

It means you being 24 years old should not date anyone who is under 19.5 years old.
